Violent riots broke out Sunday evening in Bnei Brak as people arrived to protest a business selling mobile phone accessories on Rabbi Akiva street in the middle of the city.
Tens of youngsters participated in the violent protest, scuffled with police, and attempted to destroy the store.
Rabbi Akiva, Bnei Brak’s main thoroughfare, was blocked by youngsters who also set fire to cardboard boxes lining the pavement.
Several people were detained throughout the protests because, despite police efforts to scatter the demonstrators, several persisted in obstructing traffic.
A few demonstrators threw objects at the police.
Over the past few months, many nearly daily protests against the store have occurred.
The proprietor of the “Uriel Mobile” business has been defending his establishment by erecting iron slabs in front of it daily to stop demonstrators from damaging it.
