Who doesn’t like a customizable home screen? Well, Apple’s Shortcuts makes it a lot easier to do so, once you know just how to switch up the customization game on your device.

Your App icons can now get a revamp with Shortcuts, that lets you customize the way your homepage looks. Although a little complicated, here’s how you can finally have a homepage that matches your Aesthetic, step-by-step!

First things first, find your in-built Shortcuts app. If you can’t find it, try searching for it on the app search bar. Once you’re in the app, tap on the “plus” sign in the upper-right corner, and then on “Add Action”. Go ahead and type “Open app” in the search bar and then tap on the “Open App” link.

Tap on the word “Choose.” You’ll see a list of your apps; pick the one you want to customize and you’ll be taken back to the New Shortcut page. Select the three dots in the upper-right corner. You’re now in the Details page. Give your shortcut a name and tap “Add to Home Screen.”

Once you reach here, you’ll see a preview of the icon in its usual form. It is now time to switch it up. There are a bunch of icon sources online, or you could also create your own. Whether you use someone else’s or your own, save the image to Photos.

Once you’ve made your choice, go back to the Shortcuts preview area. Tap on the icon under “Home Screen Name and Icon.” You’ll have the choice of either taking a photo, choosing a photo, or choosing a file. Select your preferred option.

On the next screen, a highlighted area will indicate what part of the photo will appear as an icon; you can move the photo around until you’re happy with the section indicated. Tap “Choose” in the lower-right corner.

Finally, you’ll see your new icon. Tap Add and enjoy your new App icon!
