Migrating from an Android device to an iOS device and vice versa has until now always led to a loss of chat history. But, this is reportedly about to change in just a bit.
According to several popular tech media reports, WhatsApp will soon be announcing a new feature that will let users move their chat history between Android and iOS devices, without having to lose their precious conversations when they migrate to a new device.

According to GSM Arena, this was recently revealed by the source code found of WhatsApp 22.2.74 beta for iOS. This being said, the portal also notified that the transfer won’t be such an easy process, at least at first. The tedious process requires both devices to have the app installed and the process of migration will likely work using a cable or a private Wi-Fi connection. In comparison, other messaging apps store and sync user data using Google Drive, iCloud, or their own cloud service.\
Meanwhile, WABetaInfo also shared a couple of screenshots that show what the feature may look like. Judging by the images, it appears WhatsApp will ask for permission before starting the transfer process, and will then instruct you to keep the app open and your phone unlocked as it migrates your chats.
