
Four young males were thrown from the SUV and killed when it collided with a bridge pier on an expressway in Detroit, according to state police.
When the GMC Yukon hit the pier around 8:00 p.m., it moved quickly. Witnesses informed state troopers that the incident occurred Sunday evening on I-96 westbound near Grand River Avenue in Detroit.
According to state police, the SUV’s four occupants died in the collision.
The driver, 21, and passengers, aged 20, 22, and 25, were all killed, according to authorities early Monday. The results of the autopsy, as well as a vehicle inspection, are still pending, according to the police.
According to a statement on Twitter by Lt. Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police, “Once again, a driver’s choice to drive recklessly cost lives on our roadways.”
